The 2008 edition of Topps Allen and Ginter was released in July of 2008 and it has upheld the success of the previous two years. Like its predecessors, the 2008 A & G set is also made up of 350 cards including:
- 257 current baseball veterans including new horizontal style cards
- 32 baseball rookies from the 2008 season
- 24 historical figures such as Pablo Picasso, Bigfoot (the truck), Marie Curie and more
- 20 stars from other sports including Rampage Jackson (UFC), Dan Jansen (speed skater) and Kerri Strug (gymnast)
- Location cards including The Grand Canyon, The Empire State Building and more
Topps stuck with the same number of short print cards by including 50 short printed cards among the set. As expected, 2008 Topps Allen and Ginter is once again full of different kinds of insert cards including:
- N43 cards: These are only inserted in hobby boxes, 1 per hobby box, some were autographed or contained relic pieces of bats or jerseys
- Rip cards: Rip cards are only found in the hobby version, and are inserted 1 per case. Each rip card has a limited edition mini card inside of it
- State cards: Inserted 1 per pack, there is a card for each of the 50 states and each one features a current player who is from that state
- Mini cards: The mini cards are inserted 1 per pack, and there quite a few varieties of the mini cards
- Framed Mini Printing Plate Cards: Printing plate cards are the actual plates used by Topps to create the A & G cards, each is numbered 1 of 1
- Framed Relic Cards: These cards contain pieces of game used bats or jerseys
- Framed Autograph Cards: The Autograph cards represent stars from baseball and other sports
- Framed Original Cards: Original Allen and Ginter cards
- Framed Cloth Cards: Cards printed on silk cloth, each numbered out of 10
- World Leaders: Mini cards featuring leaders of countries around the world
- Baseball Icons: 17 mini cards of some of baseball's greatest players
- Ancient Icons: 20 mini cards of great historical figures such as Beowulf
- Pioneers of Aviation: Mini cards of historical aviation devices
- World Deadliest Sharks: Mini cards featuring the ocean's most feared hunters
The 2008 Topps Allen and Ginter set was another great success and continues to be a hit with collectors.
